Un-hide: Reframing Luxury – Bridge of Weir & Muirhead x Modular by Mensah
In collaboration with Bridge of Weir Leather and Muirhead, I had the opportunity to work on an exciting project featuring London-based furniture artist Kusheda Mensah (Modular by Mensah) for the London Design Festival 2024. This unique installation, titled “Un-hide: Reframing Luxury,” was exhibited in the Medieval and Renaissance Gallery at the V&A Museum, exploring leather’s evolving role in contemporary design.
This project was a celebration of design, craftsmanship, and collaboration—offering a fresh perspective on how traditional materials can shape modern luxury.
The installation was an interactive seating series, a playful reinterpretation of the traditional horse-like structures used to store leather in factories. Crafted using premium leather from Bridge of Weir and Muirhead, Kusheda’s bold and organic designs challenged conventional ideas of luxury while celebrating craftsmanship and material innovation.
As the lead designer on this project, I was responsible for delivering a wide range of creative assets to support and document the collaboration. This included producing a teaser campaign video that captured Kusheda’s journey through the leather factories, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative and material processes. I also created an interview video combining Kusheda’s reflections on her design philosophy with dynamic b-roll footage of her process. To capture the full scope of the project, I produced an event summary video that documented the journey from initial concept through to the final installation at the V&A Museum. In addition to the video work, I provided photography and videography assets for promotional use and archival purposes. My role also extended to designing physical collateral, including invitations and on-site descriptive assets displayed alongside the installation, helping to contextualize the work for visitors.
